Lakeland Roads is brought to you by Lakeland Trails, which has been organising inclusive, family-friendly trail running events in the Lake District National Park since 2004 and home of the most scenic trail marathon in the country.
We are delighted to bring you Lakeland Roads, taking on the organisation of the much-loved Langdale Road Races from Brathay Trust, working with them as our official Charity Partner so they can continue to benefit from the events.
Lakeland Trails was founded in September 2004 bringing the alpine model of a running festival to the Lake District National Park. Starting with just 80 runners at our first event, and now welcome over 9,000 runners per year over 9 events.
Lakeland Trails is an independent Cumbrian business which prides itself on recruiting local Crew members and using local suppliers wherever possible.
We're only a small team, committed to ensuring our events are as safe, accessible, enjoyable and memorable as possible. We pride ourselves on staging festival-style outdoor events that are not only great fun, but are designed to ensure runners and walkers of all abilities are catered for. We also have a passion for the environment and we work hard to make our events as sustainable as possible.

The Langdale Road Races were created back in 1988 by 'Rocket' Rod Berry. Originally from Manchester, Rod developed the Langdale Road Races after the original Windermere Marathon disbanded.
Wanting to keep a challenging road race in the area and attract competitive runners, Rod worked tirelessly to develop a series of events in the unique and stunning Langdale valley. First came the Christmas Pudding 10k in 1988, which initially only attracted 38 runners and included a giant plywood Christmas Pudding finish line arch.
Rod remembers, ‘we carefully covered the ‘hole’ in paper, ready for the winner to run through. Instead of breaking through the paper arch, the guy ran straight into the plywood frame!’
Along with the Langdale Marathon and Half, it's a firm favourite on the road running scene, and you couldn't ask for a more stunning setting...just don't expect much 'flat'!
We're excited to be to keeping his vision alive and keep these much-loved events on the race calendar for so many runners.
